Matt Chandler
Matt Chandler is among my most beloved preachers. I am deeply moved by his strength, wisdom, and the unapologetic fervour with which he proclaims the gospel and the truth of Jesus Christ.
His six-part series, Becoming Like Jesus, has been a profound source of inspiration and encouragement throughout this season. Matt illuminates how the journey of life — with all its seasons — is perpetually drawing us closer to the likeness of Christ.
It is in both the heights and the depths that we encounter God in ways that truly transform us. No life is linear. We are each shaped by moments both epic and ordinary, joyful and sorrowful, effortless and achingly difficult. And yet, God — in His faithfulness — uses every thread of our experience to fashion us, slowly and beautifully, into the image of His Son. We are not a finished work. — Philippians 1:6

Brain Fitness for Active Aging
canfitpro
Brain health has long held a particular place in my heart. My first career was as a traumatic brain injury rehabilitation therapist — work that instilled in me a deep and enduring reverence for the complexity and resilience of the human mind. That foundation shaped everything that followed, and my curiosity about cognitive health has never diminished.
This continuing education course, offered through canfitpro, allowed me to explore the intersection of neuroscience and aging with fresh eyes. I engaged with the science of neuroplasticity — the remarkable capacity of the brain to reorganize, adapt, and grow new connections throughout the lifespan — and studied practical brain fitness strategies and activities specifically designed to create hemispheric connectivity and balance. Cognitive health, I am more convinced than ever, is not a luxury. It is an essential dimension of holistic wellbeing.
One of the most illuminating aspects of the course was the exploration of Blue Zones — those rare regions of the world where people consistently live longest and thrive deepest. What they share is not merely diet or genetics, but a way of inhabiting life: purpose, community, movement, spiritual orientation, and rest woven together into a coherent whole. There is something profoundly hopeful — and instructive — in knowing that the conditions for flourishing are, to a remarkable degree, within our reach.

Research & Faith
When Prayer Meets Medicine
A landmark randomized controlled trial published in the Southern Medical Journal examined whether intercessory prayer (IP) — one of the oldest forms of healing — could have a measurable effect on patients in a coronary care unit (CCU). Over ten months, 393 patients were divided into two groups: one received intercessory prayer offered by Christians praying outside the hospital, while the other group did not.
The results were striking. Patients who were prayed for showed a significantly lower severity score throughout their hospital stay. They also required ventilatory assistance, antibiotics, and diuretics far less frequently than those in the control group — a finding that held up under rigorous multivariate analysis.
What moves me most about this study is not merely the data — it is the quiet affirmation that what we have long known in our hearts carries weight in the world. Prayer is not passive. It is an act of love, of intercession, of faith that transcends the visible. This research invites both the scientist and the believer to sit together in wonder. — James 5:16

James A. Beverley
Dr. Beverly is one of my professors of systematic theology at Tyndale Seminary, where I earned my Master of Divinity. He authored this book, which was a powerful resource both before and after visiting the Christian Science faith in Boston at The Mother Church. This book clarifies the faith with scholarly care — and most importantly, addresses their response to Jesus. The death and resurrection of Jesus is the linchpin of the Christian faith, and when this is absent in a church, it is deeply concerning.

Bill Perrie, Ken Jorgensen, Alissa Hinckman
On the first day of my sabbatical, I had taken my Jeep into the Orangeville dealership for some work and to take my winter tires off. The shuttle van driver was Bill Perrie, the co-author of this book.

He signed the book and gifted me a copy to read. I completed the book swiftly, and enjoyed all the unique narratives. I must say, the ending was most humourous!
Bill is launching his magazine once again — find it on Facebook: The Pub Magazine.
