The Wedding of Stephanie & Carsten

On Saturday, July 18th, I had the joy of officiating the wedding of Stephanie Rowland and Carsten — held on the beloved property of Jim and Bente Rowland, a place made sacred not by architecture but by the generations of love it has held. The heavens opened just before the hour, and we waited forty-five minutes for the rain to pass; and when it did, the air was cool and clean, the trees heavy with water, and the light softened in a way only a storm can leave behind. It was, in the end, a beautiful service — the delay become a kind of blessing, gathering us all the more deeply into the wonder of two lives becoming one.
